Casino couple almost bin $95,000 Keno ticket

A Casino couple has come forward as the region’s latest mystery Keno winner, confessing they had no idea they had won $95,000 and came dangerously close to throwing out the precious ticket.
The New South Wales resident scored the Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot jackpot in draw 302, drawn Monday 10 February 2025. They can look forward to a total prize of $95,026.60.
Amazingly, the winning husband shared it was his wife’s first time playing Keno and his first time playing in years.
“We didn’t even know at first!” he said.
“My wife and I went for lunch on Monday and played a few games but left before checking our ticket.
“A few days later we saw a post saying the club was looking for their 8 Spot winner from Monday.
“Lucky we still had the ticket! I was surprised to see it still sitting on the bench and not in the bin.
“Funnily enough, I hadn’t played in years, and my wife had never played but we said, ‘bugger it, let’s give it a go,’.
“It’s still surreal.
“We can put it towards the house and we’re thinking of buying a caravan for some holidays.”
The winning Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot entry was purchased from Casino RSM Club, 162 Canterbury Road, Casino.
In FY24, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 78.5 million wins collectively worth more than $1.16 billion.
During this time, Keno crowned 18 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $46.7 million. Eight of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Shelly Beach dad who scored a $5.92 million windfall.
Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 40.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $588.5 million across the region in FY24.
About Keno
Keno is a fun game played at about 3,500 pubs and clubs across Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT and Victoria.
A Keno draw occurs approximately every three minutes. During each draw, 20 numbers are drawn from 1 to 80. Players simply match the numbers on their entry to the numbers drawn for a chance to win over $1 million.
There are a range of Keno games to play, including Keno Mega Millions – a higher jackpot version of Keno Classic that uses the same Keno ball draw but gives players the chance to win $5 million or more.
