Facts About Recent
Business Decisions
Dear valued members and community,
We at Casino RSM Club have become aware of discussions on social media regarding our recent business decisions concerning tenancies in our shopping village. We believe it’s important to provide you with accurate information and context to ensure our community understands the full picture.
The Facts
The tenant in question has been operating on a month-to-month agreement for the past three years, after their lease expired and they chose not to renew it at that time. This arrangement was always understood to be temporary in nature. Recently, we made the business decision to conclude this arrangement and have provided the tenant with proper notice in accordance with our agreement.
Similarly, the tenant in the neighbouring space has independently decided not to renew their lease when it expires in July. These concurrent changes have presented an opportunity for the Club to repurpose that section of the building.
At this point, no decisions have been finalised regarding a new tenant. Should a Coles owned bottle shop be considered, it would need to go through the standard liquor licensing process, which is entirely separate from the Club’s decision-making authority.
Our Community Commitment
As a not-for-profit organisation, Casino RSM Club exists to serve our community. Every business decision we make is guided by our commitment to the community to:
- Provide meeting places for all activities
- Provide close to 200 jobs for locals
- Support major local sporting teams and smaller not-for-profit organisations
- Provide a dedicated RSL sub-branch office
- Maintain bowls facilities for community recreation
- Invest in improving leisure and entertainment options in our town
- Support major local events including Primex and Beef Week
The recent revamp of the Royal, and purchase of The Clydesdale have added 25 motel rooms to our ownership, further contributing to local tourism and economic development.
Moving Forward
We understand that change can be concerning to some, especially when information is incomplete. We are committed to keeping our community informed as plans develop for the remodelled space, as we are able. We respectfully ask that community members consider the full context of this situation, and the potential impact of actions based on incomplete information.
We welcome your questions and are happy to provide further non-confidential information. Our door is always open for constructive dialogue about how we can continue to best serve Casino and the surrounding areas.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Sincerely,
John Walker, Chief Executive Officer Casino RSM Club
