Celebrating 40 Years of Art, Community, and Connection
Casino RSM Club is proud to have once again been a sponsor of the Bentley Art Prize, a beloved community event that marked its 40th anniversary this year. Held at the Bentley Community Hall, the Prize has long been a celebration of creativity, connection, and the vibrant spirit of the Northern Rivers.
This year, we were honoured to sponsor the Portraiture Acquisition Prize, which was awarded to Julia Melvin for her exceptional work. Her winning portrait now hangs proudly in the Casino RSM Club.
“For us at the Club, supporting the Bentley Art Prize is more than tradition—it’s a reflection of our values,” said John Walker, CEO of the Casino RSM Group. “We believe in nurturing local talent and creating spaces where art and community thrive together.”
The Bentley Art Prize has grown from humble beginnings in 1985 to become a cornerstone of the local arts calendar. With over 700 entries this year, the event showcased a stunning diversity of work—from landscapes and sculpture to photography and student art. The Prize continues to be a platform for emerging and established artists alike, and a gathering place for families, friends, and art lovers from across the region, something that strongly reflects with the core values of the RSM Club.
We are exceptionally proud to be part of this legacy. Our ongoing sponsorship ensures that artists are recognised and rewarded, and that their work can be enjoyed by the wider community. We invite everyone to visit the Club and experience Julia Melvin’s winning portrait in person, which is a beautiful reminder of the power of art to connect and inspire.
