The Richmond Valley community came together on Friday 22 August to celebrate the official opening of the Casino Youth Hub, a vibrant new space designed to support, inspire, and empower local young people.

Located at 161 Walker Street, Casino, the Hub has been created by the Casino RSM Club in consultation with youth, community leaders, and service providers. It will provide a welcoming drop-in space alongside free programs in mental health, career development, creative arts, leadership, and recreation. Facilities include quiet study areas with computers, a creative arts zone, kickboxing sessions with former state champion Kye Martin, and a Life Skills program covering everything from cooking to car maintenance.

The launch event was a lively celebration, with live music, interactive workshops, guided tours, and plenty of pizza. Families, young people, and community members explored the new facility and met the team behind it.

Casino RSM Club CEO John Walker confirmed funding is secured for at least five years, reflecting the Club’s long-term commitment to youth wellbeing. President Trudy Lamont described the Hub as “more than just a building—it’s a welcoming space built on respect, inclusion, and opportunity.” Youth Hub Coordinator Bianca Rayner added that her role was about “building the ship” while empowering young people “to be the captains.”

Local MP Richie Williamson congratulated the team, calling the Hub “a wonderful new space for our youth” and praising its potential to make a real difference across the Richmond Valley.

The Casino Youth Hub transforms the former Salvation Army building into a safe and inclusive place where young people can connect, learn, and grow. With strong community backing and secured funding, the Hub is set to thrive as a cornerstone for youth engagement in the years ahead.
